A food industry rock star, that’s who – Elliott Haverlack, recently retired as President and COO at Ainsworth Pet Nutrition (APN) will be the opening keynote session at Customer Connect 2013 in Las Vegas.
During Elliott’s 12-
year tenure at APN, the pet food manufacturer and distributor experienced compounded annual grow rates of more than 23%. When you have that kind of success running a food company, your peers take notice! In 2000, when Elliott Haverlack started working here, APN was a single-
brand company with one manufacturing site. (The privately held, family owned and operated business – known until as Dad’s Pet Care until a couple of years ago – had been around since 1933 out of Meadville, PA.) When Elliott, 54, retired in March 2012, APN boasted three divisions, five operating sites, seven warehouses, 500 employees, and a dozen brands with about 600 SKUs, including Rachael Ray Nutrish, the fastest growing grocery story super- premium pet food – making it one of the largest privately owned pet food makers in America. Prior to joining APN, Elliott worked for H.J. Heinz for 11 years, including as VP, Customer Support and Logistics for Heinz North America, and nine years with Ralston Purina’s human food division. He is currently consulting for APN as a special advisor to the President, and he has plans to launch a new enterprise of his own in early 2013.
Unbundling Some Business Success Tips
The proud father of 27-
year- old twins is currently engaged to be married. As if all that doesn’t keep him busy enough, Elliott is also about to publish the book, Unbundle It: Simply Your Perspective to Release the Power of Your Team and Live a Better Life. Based on the theory that people are predisposed to create complexity in their lives and businesses, the book offers suggestions on how to overcome the burden with real- world examples. We’re surprised he has the time, but thrilled nonetheless that Elliott Haverlack will join us and members of the JustFoodERP customer family in Vegas in April at our User Event. He better brace himself for a lot of questions; the food companies of America that we’re proud to call clients are an ambitious lot – they’ll want to pick Elliott’s brain for success tips! Oh, and so do I!
